Archangel Michael is often regarded as a protector of the faithful, a defender against spiritual adversity, and a symbol of courage, truth, and divine strength. The following prayer was composed by Pope Leo XIII in 1886 and remains one of the most well-known prayers dedicated to Saint Michael.

Saint Michael the Archangel,

Defend us in our battle against the powers of darkness and the forces that seek to lead humanity away from truth and righteousness.

Come to the aid of those whom God has redeemed and protect them from all forms of spiritual harm. Holy Church honors you as a guardian and protector, entrusted by God with guiding souls toward His heavenly kingdom.

Pray to the God of peace that evil may be overcome and that all people may be strengthened in faith, courage, and wisdom. Present our prayers before the Most High, that His mercy and grace may be poured out upon us.

Seize the ancient dragon, the serpent called the devil and Satan, and cast him away so that he may no longer deceive the nations or lead humanity astray.

May God’s truth, protection, and peace prevail.
